Book Reviews
I was recently asked by a consulting client who are my favorite authors? I must admit which through me off balance a bit. Over the years I’ve read many books and I take inspiration from lots of different authors depending on what I’m working on. A few years ago, I spent 2 years being trained by my Action Coach called Nigel Scott. I enjoyed working with Nigel and he reminded me about all of the great books I had once read in the early part of my career (before I got a little technical in my approach)
As part of my coaching he would make me, ask me, challenge me to read a new book every week. We would then discuss the book in detail and see how the principles could be applied with my marketing practice. Since then I haven’t looked back. I am constantly reading new books and learning lots of new things be that an online video course, tutorials or a plain old print book. Constant learning is what makes me different and dare I say pragmatic “I Think Therefore I Am”
Most of my reading of late has been about Digital Marketing and SEO. I’m drawn towards the contemporary and technical nature of digital and the pace of change. So I use other interests of my personal development help to underpin my knowledge base to provide balance. As information we take in on a day-to-day basis in digital can become redundant overtime. Yet personal development and growth are more important in the long-term.
I have been meaning to write up my book reviews and I’m beginning to get a backlog of articles and reviews.
I’ve decided to put a few of my books below and I will write them up on a quite Sunday afternoon when I get the chance (when I make time). I’m hoping that the below will serve as a visual reminder to myself to keep this page updated.
